![]() I love sunbathing outside, as it’s a new experience for me. Thanks to my foster home, I’m gradually getting comfortable with car rides, and I now look forward to our weekend trips for my pup cup treat. Every day is a new adventure for me as I continue to learn and grow. I had never experienced the concept of family or enjoyed the freedom of a yard until recently. When I first arrived, I was afraid of everything – cars, hands, and even people. Therefore, I need a patient and understanding family who can provide me with the support I need. While I have come a long way, there are still moments when I feel nervous and freeze up. ![]() Since being in my foster home, I have been making great strides in learning about love and the goodness of humans. Hello, my name is Poppy, and I’m a former breeding mama who is ready to embrace the joys of family life in my forever home. If you are interested in Toby please complete the online application if you haven’t already done so and email Gwen Cover at Application Poppy in San Antonio, TX Since he is on the smaller side a secure privacy fence is a must. Because of this and that he is a Velcro pup, following his foster mom around all day, someone home during the day would be the best fit for Toby. He has a little bit of separation anxiety however, his foster mom has been working with him and he’s getting much better. He sleeps wonderful in his crate during the day with the door open and at night with it shut and he will alert you if he must go out to potty. Potty-training has gone well with regular trips outside to the backyard and being on a schedule with the other dogs in the house. Daily walks have been fun for him and he’s doing well on a leash. He is a quiet little boy and has only barked when he has been startled. He has gained a couple pounds since being with his foster mom and after his neuter he might gain a couple more, however he is still a small Cavalier at 10 lbs. He is on a salmon diet as his owner said he had tummy problems with chicken when he was younger. Toby loves his food and is a very good eater. When he is done playing, he is all about the naps and snuggles. Toby knows some basic commands and has thrived in a routine with his foster family. He is full of energy and loves to try to get his foster siblings to play as well. He is a smart healthy puppy and is so happy just to run and play with all the toys, carrying them around the house from his dog bed to his crate then out the dog door to the yard and back inside again. He came into rescue after his owner had some life changes and reached out to us for help. Toby is a 10-month-old Blenheim boy born May 21, 2023. If you are interested in this Cavalier, please complete our online application if you haven’t already and then e-mail Davonna at so she knows of your interest. He could also do well in a home with another dog that can continue to teach him how to be a family dog. He currently follows his foster mom around everywhere she goes. Ruxpin would be the perfect companion for someone who works from home and would like a Velcro friend to sit with them. Everyday household things no longer stress him out, but sometimes sudden things will still spook him. They should understand that most of a family life is completely new to him. Ruxpin’s new family will need to be patient and understanding with him. Ruxpin has a lot of anxiety in situations outside his foster home. ![]() The activity of our home goes on around him and he has adjusted well. Ruxpin is working on spending more and more time hanging out with his foster family or sleeping on the couch next to them. He is only placed in there twice a month when the cleaners come to his foster parents home. He is not a fan of his crate in his foster home. Since coming into foster his personality has slowly but surely started to come out. He weighs 21 pounds, which is a good weight for him. Ruxpin is getting a dental done on to include a cleaning and any needed extractions. He was neutered while in rescue’s care and his incision has healed up nicely. He has done very well and has not yet had an accident inside. His foster parents working from home has helped to teach him to be potty trained. He loves sleeping near where his foster parents work from home and snoozing on the couch. But, after a few short weeks he has learned to trust that the hands only want to pet him. He feared hands and people touching him at first. He is learning how to be a loved family pet from them. He is living in a foster home with 4 other male dogs. Ruxpin is named after Teddy Ruxpin as he looks like a big teddy bear. He is now learning how to be a family dog and what lots of love is like. He spent life prior to rescue as a stud dog living in a commercial breeding facility. Ruxpin is 5 years old and is a handsome Ruby that was born on. ![]()
